Human Rights Day presents an opportunity, every year, to celebrate human rights, highlight specific issues, and advocate for the full enjoyment of all human rights by everyone, everywhere.
The Uttarakhand Human Rights Commission observed the Human Rights Day under the direction of the Hon’ble Chairperson Justice Sh. Vijender Jain by organizing a programme in the office in Dehradun on the 10th December, 2014. This event was addressed by Hon’ble members Justice Sh. Rajesh Tandon and Dr. Hemlata Dhaundiyal.
The event was highlighted with a recitation of the ‘Human Rights 365’ Slogan adopted by the National Human Rights Commission. The ‘Human Rights 365’ slogan encompasses the idea that, every day is a day of Human Rights. It celebrates the fundamental position as in the Universal Declaration that each one of us, everywhere, at all times is entitled to a range of human rights, that belong equally to each of us and bind us together as a global community with the same ideals and values. The pledge was taken by all the staff members of the Commission.
मानव अधिकार प्रतिज्ञा :
मैं निष्ठा से प्रतिज्ञा करता/करती हूँ
कि मैं सभी मानव अधिकारों को पूर्ण विश्वास एवं निष्ठा से धारण करूँगा/करूँगी तथा उन अधिकारों के संरक्षण एवं संवर्धन में अपना पूरा कत्र्तव्य निभाऊगाँ/निभाऊँगी,
कि मैं किसी भी प्रकार के भेदभाव के बिना सभी के मानव अधिकारों का सम्मान एवं समर्थन करूँगा/करूँगी तथा मैं, प्रत्यक्ष अथवा अप्रत्यक्ष रूप से भी किसी के मानव अधिकार का अपने विचार, शब्द या कार्य से नुकसान नहीं करूँगा/करूँगी।
The Members talked about the importance of collective responsibility against violations of human rights in today’s context and also expounded upon the duty of the commission to deliver justice by staying united and assisting in putting forth dignity, liberty, life and equality above everything at all times with an acknowledgement of social responsibility towards all citizens. They also mentioned that the Human Rights Day is observed on the 10th December every year to bring to the attention of the people of the world towards the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), which was adopted and proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1948 as a common standard of achievement all across the globe.
